{"title":"Cockpit","description":"\u003cp\u003eThe cockpit places your hands: handlebar, stem or one-piece cockpit, headset and bar tape. Choose it first on your current position, then on the cable routing.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eStart from your current position\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe cockpit sets two measurements: the distance between the fork steerer and your hands, and their height. For the first, add the stem length and the handlebar reach: a 100 mm stem and an 80 mm reach put your hands about 180 mm from the steerer. A handlebar with a 73 mm reach on the same stem brings them 7 mm closer, without changing anything else. Measure your setup before ordering, and compare each \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/handlebars\"\u003ehandlebar\u003c\/a\u003e on these measurements rather than on its width alone.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eHandlebar and stem, or a one-piece cockpit\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA separate handlebar and stem adjust independently. An angled \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/stems\"\u003estem\u003c\/a\u003e can be flipped: at 100 mm with a 73° head angle, a flipped 84° stem raises the handlebar by about 20 mm and brings it about 6 mm closer. An \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/integrated-cockpits\"\u003eintegrated cockpit\u003c\/a\u003e hides the housing and removes a joint, but width and length are moulded in: only the height can still be adjusted, with spacers.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eRouting goes through the headset\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWith hidden cables, the housing enters the frame through the top of the \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/headsets\"\u003eheadset\u003c\/a\u003e. So the headset decides which cockpit fits, hence the adapters for each headset brand. Ritchey's Switch system routes the cables beside the bearings, and its spacers open at the front: raising the handlebar by 5 mm means neither cutting a hose nor bleeding a brake.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eBar tape: what your hands touch\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the road, a 3 mm bar tape keeps the feel of the handlebar under your palm.
