With a 71° head angle, the \u003ca href=\"\/en\/products\/ks-ether-forged-xc-gravel-stem\"\u003eKS Ether Forged\u003c\/a\u003e and its 6° rise point about 25° above horizontal. Going from 70 to 110 mm therefore moves the handlebar about 36 mm forward and about 17 mm up. A short stem makes the steering livelier; a long one stretches the torso.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eFlip it before buying another\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe \u003ca href=\"\/en\/products\/ritchey-wcs-c220-84d-road-gravel-stem\"\u003eWCS C220 84D\u003c\/a\u003e fits at +6° or −6°. At 100 mm with a 73° head angle, flipping it raises the handlebar by about 20 mm and brings it about 6 mm closer: a more upright position to try without buying anything. Its clamp wraps the handlebar over 220°, more than half its circumference, and is gentle on it when tightened.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eCables outside or hidden\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe \u003ca href=\"\/en\/products\/ritchey-wcs-switch-road-gravel-stem\"\u003eWCS Switch\u003c\/a\u003e hides up to three cables: they run under the stem, then enter the frame through the headset without touching the bearings. It needs the Switch headset and spacers, or an adapter to keep an FSA, Token, ENVE, Acros or standard 1-1\/8\" headset: everything is in \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/headsets\"\u003eheadsets\u003c\/a\u003e. Its spacers come off without disconnecting a cable, so changing the handlebar height remains a simple adjustment.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eBefore you order\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eAll three stems clamp a 31.8 mm \u003ca href=\"\/en\/collections\/handlebars\"\u003ehandlebar\u003c\/a\u003e on a 1-1\/8\" steerer, and the C220 also comes in 1-1\/4\". Check the clamping height on the steerer: 42 mm for the C220, 50 mm for the Switch with its cable guide. Workshop rule: the steerer stops 3 to 5 mm below the top of the stem, so the top cap can compress the headset.
