III-PRO makes brake rotors for bicycles. The brand has no website telling its story, so MAAKE sticks to what can be checked on the part itself: the track material, its thickness, the wear limit engraved on it and the tightening torque marked on the lockring or the carrier. That is what led us to choose two Center Lock rotors that are easy to check.
The A1 is made entirely of stainless steel, with a widely cut-out track: air passes through the cut-outs on every wheel turn and carries the heat away. It is 1.8 mm thick when new and is replaced at 1.5 mm, a measurement a calliper is enough to read. The A2 splits the roles: the track, where the pads bite, is SUS410 stainless, a hard, wear-resistant martensitic grade; the central carrier, which does no braking, is aluminium. Weight comes off where it does no work, 117 g in 160 mm, and the carrier comes in four colours.
Pick 160 mm for road and gravel, 180 mm for MTB and e-bikes. For the same effort at the lever, the larger rotor gives at least 12% more braking torque, simply through leverage: the pads bite further from the hub. First check what your caliper accepts, directly or with its adapter. All the rotors are together in the Brake rotors collection.
When the braking surface is down to 1.5 mm, the wear limit engraved on the rotor, against 1.8 mm new. A calliper is all you need to measure it.
The A1 is all stainless steel. The A2 pairs a SUS410 stainless steel braking surface with an aluminium carrier, for 117 g in 160 mm, in four colours. Both are Center Lock, in 160 or 180 mm.
No, only a Center Lock hub, with splines. A 6-bolt hub needs a 6-bolt rotor.
