Cybrei presents itself as a brand “born from racers”: a team of cyclists and industry people, with decades of cycling behind them. The core of its range is the road crankset, from carbon cranks to bolts, designed to go together. It publishes its tests, and those are what MAAKE judged it on. Since 2022, it has partnered two UCI Continental teams, the Mongolian FEREI Quick-Panda Podium and the Serbian FEREI CCN Metalac.
The GP-3 took three years from idea to production, with tests run by UCI teams and World Tour riders. Its arms are moulded in T1000 carbon using an in-house dual-channel process. On the test bench, it takes a 130 J impact, passes SGS tests, then 1,800 N repeated 140,000 times, 40% beyond what the EN 14781 standard requires. The chainrings follow the same method: the Metarbon Aero, with a carbon body and 7075-T6 aluminium teeth, was designed with finite element analysis and tested in the brand's laboratory, the Cybrei Science Lab.
The GP-3 adapts to the frame you have: a 28.99 mm SRAM DUB spindle or a 24 mm Shimano one, and eleven lengths from 150 to 175 mm. The Ultra replaces the alloy spindle with a carbon spindle, for about 270 g a pair with the spindle, in DUB only. This choice has a mechanical logic: for the same wall thickness, a tube's torsional stiffness grows with the cube of its diameter, nearly 1.8 times more at 29 mm than at 24 mm.
For cranks whose fatigue tests are published, and which adapt to the bike rather than the other way round. At MAAKE, the whole road range: complete cranksets like the Ultra Metarbon, the carbon Metarbon Aero and aluminium Evo outer chainrings in eight colours, spiders and bolts. To measure power without changing cranks, the Xcadey spider fits the GP-3 as well as the Ultra.
Cybrei publishes its tests: a 130 J impact, SGS tests and fatigue at 1,800 N repeated 140,000 times, 40% beyond the EN 14781 standard. The GP-3 has also been tested by UCI Continental teams.
The GP-3 to keep your bottom bracket, with a SRAM DUB or Shimano 24 mm spindle, in eleven lengths from 150 to 175 mm. The Ultra for a carbon spindle and around 270 g per pair, DUB only, from 155 to 172.5 mm.
Their Easton Cinch interface takes a 110 × 4 spider for a double chainring, a 144 × 5 spider for a five-bolt outer chainring, or a direct mount single chainring such as the Stone Easton Cinch. Cybrei offers its Metarbon Aero and Evo outer chainrings, and the inner chainring separately.
