    Cybrei designed the part using finite element analysis, then validated it in the lab, to remove the material that does no work. The 50/34 pair weighs 135 g.

    Description

    The Cybrei Metarbon Aero is a road outer chainring for Shimano 110×4 standard cranks and spiders, 11- or 12-speed. It is sold on its own: the Cybrei inner chainring and the bolts are sold separately.

    It combines two materials, each in its place. The high-modulus carbon body handles lateral stiffness and power transfer, the machined 7075-T6 aluminium teeth resist chain wear. Cybrei claims 31% more stiffness than a conventional aluminium chainring, and 135 g for the 50/34 pair.

    The brand puts the 54-tooth forward. With an 11 cog on 700 × 28, one pedal revolution covers 10.5 m, against 9.7 m with a 50: at 90 rpm, 57 km/h instead of 52. That 8% carries over to every cog, which also raises your cruising gears. The one limit: Cybrei does not publish the weight of the outer chainring alone.

    Cybrei designed it with finite element analysis and tested it in its own lab, the Cybrei Science Lab. MAAKE offers it on its own so you can change the outer chainring without buying the pair again.
