MAAKE sells carefully chosen brands. If a product has a problem, we deal with it: you do not have to contact the brand.

Legal guarantee of conformity

Every product bought from MAAKE is covered by the legal guarantee of conformity for 2 years from delivery, at no cost to you. During these 2 years, you only have to prove that the defect exists, not when it appeared.

  • You choose between repair and replacement. It is done within 30 days of your request, at no cost and without major inconvenience to you.
  • A product repaired under the guarantee gets 6 extra months of guarantee. If you asked for repair and we impose replacement, the guarantee starts again for 2 years.
  • You can get a price reduction while keeping the product, or a full refund by returning it, if we refuse repair or replacement, if they take more than 30 days, if they cause you major inconvenience, or if the defect persists after our intervention. You are also entitled to this straight away if the defect is serious. A minor defect does not give the right to a refund.
  • The time the product is out of use for repair or replacement suspends the guarantee until it is handed back.

These rights result from articles L.217-1 to L.217-32 of the French Consumer Code. A seller who obstructs the legal guarantee of conformity in bad faith faces a civil fine of up to 300,000 euros or 10% of its average annual turnover (article L.241-5).

Guarantee against hidden defects

You are also covered by the guarantee against hidden defects (articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code), for 2 years from discovery of the defect. It gives the right to a price reduction if you keep the product, or to a full refund if you return it.

Brand warranties

Many of our brands also give their own commercial warranty, sometimes longer than 2 years, especially on frames and wheels. It is granted by the brand, under its own conditions, shown on the product page where they exist. It comes on top of the legal guarantees and does not replace them. MAAKE does not grant a commercial warranty of its own, but passes on and follows up your claim with the brand.

What is not a defect

  • Normal wear: tyres, inner tubes, pads, rotors, chains, cassettes, chainrings, bar tape, bearings, cables and housing.
  • Damage caused by a fall, an accident, an impact or unsuitable transport after delivery.
  • Damage caused by fitting, adjustment or maintenance that does not follow the brand's instructions, unless those instructions were wrong or incomplete.
  • Use that does not match the product's intended use (racing, load, discipline) or a modification of the product.

Fitting and safety

A frame, a fork, a handlebar or a seatpost are safety parts. Follow the brand's instructions, especially torque values and compatibility, above all on carbon. If you do not have the tools or are in any doubt, have your parts fitted by a professional and ask us for advice before fitting.

Making a claim

  1. Write to us at contact@maake.cc with your order number, a description of the problem and photos.
  2. We reply with a return number and the steps to follow. If the brand needs to inspect the product, we handle the exchange with it.
  3. Depending on the diagnosis, the product is repaired, replaced or refunded.

Under the legal guarantee, return costs are paid by us. If the inspection shows that the problem is not covered by any guarantee, we explain why and offer you a quote before any paid work.
