The centre of the bike, the best place for weight
A saddle bag sways with every pedal stroke, a handlebar bag makes the steering heavier. Inside the triangle, the weight stays low and in the middle, between the two wheels: the bike handles almost as if it were unloaded. This is where the densest items go, reserve water, tools, food, and whatever you want to grab without getting out of the saddle.
Choose the size for your frame
Measure the inside of the triangle before thinking about volume. With at least 44 cm between the head tube and the seat tube, the Frame Bag Large 02 holds 3.6 L on two levels. The Frame Bag 02 takes 2.8 L, and the XT stretches to 46 cm for large sizes. The Small 02 fits 1.4 L into an XS triangle, on a full-suspension bike or between two bottles. A large bag often takes the place of the bottle cages: plan your water elsewhere, or go one size smaller.
Pack in layers
A bikepacker's tip: dense at the bottom, against the down tube, bulky at the top. Tools and food go down low, the jacket and gloves stay near the top tube, easy to pull out when the weather turns. To complete the setup, a top tube bag keeps your phone and bars within reach.
Frames with a hatch: the kit inside the tube

Which frame bag size should I choose?
Measure the inside of the triangle, between the head tube and the seat tube, and its height under the top tube. Each product page gives the bag's dimensions.
Can I keep my bottles with a frame bag?
With a bag that doesn't fill the whole triangle, yes, at least one bottle on the down tube. A full-size bag takes the place of the bottles: water then goes in the bag or on the fork.
Does a frame bag damage the frame?
Straps rub on the paint over time, especially with dust. A protective film under each strap prevents marks.
