WinSpace was founded in 2008 in Xiamen, in south-east China, the city where China's carbon frame industry is concentrated. The brand designs, builds and races road, gravel and time trial bikes there, with a line it sums up itself: accessible performance.
The M6 and the G3 come out of the Xiamen workshop; the SLC5 and the T1600 are moulded by partners, with the aim of bringing the whole top of the range in-house. In the workshop, the carbon prepreg waits in cold storage and must go from fridge to mould in under 7 days. The layup is done by hand, piece by piece, and frames are moulded in two halves so the fibre cures evenly through its whole thickness.
Every frame goes through 24 checks, every fork 16, with a leak test in a water bath, an X-ray of every fork and every handlebar, and one frame in a hundred deliberately destroyed to check the batch. Aero is measured in the wind tunnel, at the Fuji Aero Performance Centre in Japan and in the United Kingdom. And the proof comes in racing: the women's professional team Mayenne Monbana My Pie raced the SLC5 from Paris-Roubaix to the polka dot jersey at the women's Vuelta.
For that transparency: a brand that says what it makes itself, publishes its figures against its own previous models, and stays loyal to workshop standards, threaded bottom brackets and UDH hangers. Frames carry a 3-year warranty. At MAAKE: the SLC5 for the road, the M6 for aero, the G5 for gravel racing, and the HYPER 2 Riser handlebar.
