    The frame takes a 58 mm tyre at the front and a 53 mm tyre at the rear in 700C. The wide front opens up your line and soaks up the stones, the narrower rear keeps traction and punch when you accelerate.

    Toray carbon frame, claimed at 950 g in size M unpainted, to within 3%. The fork is full carbon, with WinSpace's patented closed thru-axle.

    D-profile seatstays with an integrated fairing and fin, and a very slim head tube. Cables run fully inside the frame through FSA's ACR system, right up to the integrated handlebar: nothing flaps in the wind.

    A storage compartment opens in the down tube, closed by a FIDLOCK magnetic cover. Inner tube, tools and bars stay at the centre of the bike, where weight is felt least, and not in your pockets.

    UDH derailleur hanger, 68 mm threaded T47 bottom bracket, flat mount brakes with 160 mm rotors, 180 mm possible at the front. Open standards: hangers and wear parts are available at any workshop.

    423 mm chainstays in XS and S, 425 mm in M and L, 427 mm in XL and XXL: the rear end grows with the rider. The head angle goes from 70.5° to 71.5°, and the stack to reach ratio from 1.45 to 1.52.

    Description

    The WinSpace G5 is the brand's gravel race bike, the successor to the G3: frame, fork, aero seatpost and hardware, to be completed with an integrated handlebar. The G3 was fast without ruling out touring. The G5 keeps that base and goes further: aero profiles, 58 mm of tyre at the front, storage inside the frame. A bike for those who line up on Saturday and still want to hold the group at the end of the race.

    The aero is in the details. The D-Type seatstays carry a fairing and a fin that extend the airflow behind the rear triangle. The head tube is very slim, and all the cables run inside the frame with FSA's ACR system. Because they are dropped, the seatstays also add compliance on rough ground. The frame weighs 950 g unpainted in M.

    The clearance, 58 mm at the front and 53 mm at the rear, pays off when you build the bike. The front wheel carries less weight than the rear: it takes a wider tyre, run at lower pressure, without bottoming out. At the front, that tyre holds the line on rough descents; at the rear, a narrower, firmer tyre keeps the efficiency. Two limits: a single chainring tops out at 50 teeth, and the stock fork is rigid.

    For the G5, WinSpace commissioned a RockShox Rudy Ultimate XPLR fork with 30 mm of travel, which fits the stock frame for about 200 g more. MAAKE picked it because it doesn't make you choose between tyre width and race pace.
