A component is bought with a calliper first. Four measurements decide almost everything: the inner diameter of the bottom bracket bearings, 29 mm for a SRAM DUB spindle and 24 mm for a Shimano spindle; the freehub body, which must take the cassette; the seatpost diameter; the rotor mount, Center Lock on the road and gravel wheels in the selection. One workshop rule saves a lot of returns: a spindle's name refers to the bottom bracket, not the groupset. Each product's specifications give these measurements, to compare with your frame's.
The drivetrain is sold here part by part: cranksets, crank arms, chainrings, cassettes, cages and pulleys, pedals. You keep what works and change what needs changing, as long as the interface matches: a Stone single chainring with an AXS profile needs a SRAM Flattop chain, whatever the crankset.
The cockpit and the seatpost set your position more than they add weight. Swapping a seatpost with 20 mm of setback for a zero-offset one moves the saddle forward by 20 mm without touching the rails: the right fix when the saddle still sits too far back, even pushed all the way forward. For forks, the measurement that matters is the axle-to-crown length: the KS GTC needs a frame designed for 435 mm and a 1.5-inch tapered head tube, because a different axle-to-crown changes the head angle.
Wheels, tyres and tubeless and brakes are chosen together. The rim's internal width sets the tyre range, and the rotor diameter sets the braking torque: going from 140 to 160 mm lengthens the lever arm by about 14%, for the same effort on the lever. The Hope and III-PRO rotors in the selection are Center Lock, like the hubs on the road and gravel wheels.
Each product's specifications give the part's standards: bottom bracket, interface, diameter, chain. Compare them with those of your frame and wheels; if in doubt, write to us before ordering.
MAAKE sells components part by part, without complete groupsets. For a build project, write to us from the contact page: we will look together at what your frame and your riding call for.
The tyres first: they decide grip and rolling efficiency with every turn of the wheel. Next come the contact points, handlebar, saddle and pedals, which set your position, then the wheels.
