    Key features

Cintre gravel Ritchey WCS VentureMax, vue de dessus

On a 42 cm bar, the ends sit 52.3 cm apart. Hands in the drops gain leverage over a loaded front wheel, and the angled drops extend the line of your forearm.

Cintre gravel Ritchey WCS VentureMax, gros plan sur le drop

A bump in the bend of the drops fills the hollow of your palm. The pressure spreads instead of concentrating, which matters when you spend a good part of the stage in the drops.

Cintre gravel Ritchey WCS VentureMax, vue de face

The tops are flattened to 38 × 22.5 mm. Your hand rests flat on them, one more resting position when the track turns fast and smooth again.

    Description

The Ritchey WCS VentureMax is an aluminium gravel handlebar for loaded bikes: handlebar bag, long stages, unexpected tracks. It has you spending more time in the drops, without strain.

First, the drop is only 102 mm: moving to the drops lowers your hands only a little, and you can hold the position for hours. The Bio-bend, a bump in the bend, fills the hollow of your palm.

Then, 24° of flare. In 42 cm, the drops measure 52.3 cm: each hand moves out by about 5 cm, a quarter more leverage to hold a weighed-down front wheel. Seen from the front, the forearm angles outwards on its way down from the shoulder; the tilted drops follow that line and the wrist stays straight. Ritchey measures the width at the start of the bend, not at the hoods.

Tom Ritchey was riding far and off-road long before anyone talked about gravel; this VentureMax brings back his Bio-bend. MAAKE offers it for loaded gravel riding, with the WCS C220 stem.
