    Description

    The Cybrei Ultra crank arms are for road bikes built down to the gram: Toray T1000 carbon arms, a carbon spindle too, about 270 g a pair with the spindle.

    It all comes down to the spindle. Carbon cranks usually keep an alloy spindle: Cybrei replaces it with a 28.99 mm carbon spindle, to the SRAM DUB standard, with no claimed loss of torsional stiffness.

    DUB alone has a mechanical logic: for the same wall thickness, a tube resists torsion in proportion to the cube of its diameter, nearly 1.8 times more at 29 mm than at 24 mm. That large diameter gives the carbon some margin. The flip side: no Shimano 24 mm version, and six lengths from 155 to 172.5 mm. For a 24 mm bottom bracket, there is the Cybrei GP-3.

    The Ultra builds on the GP-3, which Cybrei tested with UCI Continental teams. MAAKE picks it for road builds where every gram counts.
