    Description

    The 7mesh Guardian Terra is the brand's most accomplished jacket: a GORE-TEX Pro shell for long days outdoors in bad weather, mountain hiking, ski touring, a winter outing on a windswept ridge.

    Its GORE-TEX Pro ePE has a three-layer construction, the membrane sandwiched between the outer fabric and a liner, with a 70-denier nylon: 70 g per 9,000 m of yarn, a dense fabric that takes the rubbing of pack straps and rock. According to 7mesh, that is what keeps it waterproof over time. The membrane is PFAS-free.

    The windproofing, guaranteed by GORE-TEX, matters more than you might think: at 0 °C in a 30 km/h wind, the wind chill falls to around -6 °C, and the wind goes straight through a down jacket. The shell stops it and lets the insulation do its job. It is 7mesh's longest jacket, cut to go over a down jacket, with wide cuffs for winter gloves: take your usual size. On the climbs, open its four vents. For riding, the Guardian Apex is the better choice.

    It is designed in Squamish by a team founded by former Arc'teryx people, and tested in the mountains right outside the workshop. We chose it for those who head out when the forecast can't make up its mind.
