    Hutchinson nominal weights, ±7% tolerance. In Hardskin, the 50 mm comes only in Tan Walls. Maximum pressure: the one printed on the tyre sidewall.
    On a hookless rim, Hutchinson recommends taking 0.25 bar off its recommended pressure and never exceeding the lower of the two maximum pressures, the tyre's and the rim's.

    Description

    The Touareg Hardskin is Hutchinson's gravel tyre for riding a lot and repairing little: mixed or dry terrain, from commuting to bikepacking.

    Its Hardskin mesh covers the casing from bead to bead: the tread is protected as well as the sidewalls, whereas a sidewall reinforcement leaves the centre bare. On top, two compounds: a hard centre that rolls, and soft sides with tall side knobs that grip, even in wet corners.

    The actual width depends on the rim: according to Hutchinson, the 40 mm reaches its stated width on a 23 mm rim, a little less on 21 mm. For tubeless, add sealant, a tubeless valve and rim tape if needed. Hutchinson rates it 4 out of 4 for puncture resistance and 3 out of 4 for performance: the price of that protection.

    Hutchinson makes it in Châlette-sur-Loing, on a 127 TPI casing inspired by its Fusion 5 road tyres. We keep it for riders who go far, loaded or every day.
