    The honeycomb is denser where heat must be kept and opens into airy mesh where the body sweats. The back, thinner than the front, moves moisture away according to sweat zones.

    Knitted as a tube, with no seams or hems, it covers torso and arms like a second skin and does not crease under the jacket. Q36.5 calls it practically indestructible, even after years of use.

    The hollow Thermolite yarn traps the air warmed by your body, and according to Q36.5 the Emana polyamide stimulates blood flow at the surface of the skin. The push-pull knit drives sweat outwards before it can chill you.

    Description

    The Q36.5 Base Layer 4 Plus is the brand's winter base layer, for long rides between -3 and +10 °C under a thermal jacket. Its job: keep your body heat without holding on to water.

    It combines two yarns. Emana polyamide, loaded with ceramic, improves skin microcirculation and moisture exchange according to Q36.5. Thermolite polyester is a hollow fibre: its empty core traps warm air, which insulates without adding bulk and limits the water it absorbs. The whole garment is knitted seamless on Karl Mayer machines.

    In winter, the cold does not only come from the thermometer. At 0 °C, a descent at 30 km/h feels like about -6 °C on exposed skin, and a soaked layer conducts heat more than twenty times better than air. Hence the push-pull knit, which pushes sweat outwards before it can chill you. Wear it close to the body, in your size. Above 10 °C, the Base Layer 3 is enough.

    Q36.5 has it knitted in Italy with its Emana and Thermolite yarns. We chose it for riders who do not put the bike away in December.
