    Description

    The 7mesh Chilco Anorak is a pull-on thermal jacket for rides that are more about finding your way than the finish line: autumn gravel, bikepacking, hiking. Wear it as a second layer, or on its own when it isn't raining.

    It all comes down to its fabric, WTV 300. Outside, a stretch weave stops the wind; inside, a brushed, high-loft back holds the air your body warms. Yet the fabric lets a lot of air through: on the climb, the excess heat escapes, then the layer of air goes back to work on the descent.

    Wind chills as much as the thermometer. At 5 °C, a descent at 25 km/h feels close to 0 °C on exposed skin, according to the wind chill index: that is the cold the woven face cuts. With no membrane, it needs a rain jacket on top when it rains. Underneath, the fit leaves room for a winter base layer.

    WTV is 7mesh's own fabric. The brand was founded in Squamish by former Arc'teryx people and tests its pieces in the mountains nearby. We chose this jacket because it works as well on the bike as once you're off it.
