    Description

    The 7mesh Chilco is a thermal gilet for autumn and winter, to wear over a long-sleeve jersey for gravel or bikepacking. It also looks good once you're off the bike.

    It protects the torso, where cold costs the most, and leaves the arms free to shed heat. Its fabric, 7mesh's WTV 300, pairs a woven face that cuts the wind with a brushed back that holds warm air, while letting enough air through to release heat on the climb. The armholes are articulated for the riding position.

    When the sun comes back, it packs into its own rear pocket, and hidden straps attach it to the frame: that is the StashSystem. Carrying it costs almost nothing: at 12 km/h on an 8% gradient, lifting its 218 g takes about 0.6 W. With no membrane, it does not replace a rain jacket.

    7mesh, founded in Squamish by former Arc'teryx people, designed the StashSystem so the layer travels on the bike rather than in a pack. We chose it because you keep it on, from the climb to the café.
