    A large pocket on the outside of each thigh, deep enough for a phone. With the three pockets at the back, the bib shorts carry what your jersey no longer has room for.

    Very soft elastic straps, 45 mm wide. The wider a strap, the more the hold spreads over the shoulder, and the less it digs in after a few hours.

    7mesh designed these pockets to complement the bags on the bike and the jersey pockets on multi-day rides. With five pockets, a technical tee can even replace the jersey.

    Description

    The 7mesh MK3 Cargo is a pair of bib shorts for long days of gravel and bikepacking, when three jersey pockets are no longer enough.

    It keeps the close fit of road bib shorts and adds five pockets, two on the thighs and three at the back of the waist, which complement a frame bag and your jersey. Under the saddle, the Elastic Interface Performance Space chamois is made to 7mesh's specifications: high-density foam in the centre channel, where your weight presses, and a fully air-permeable top layer.

    A bike fitter's tip: at 90 rpm, each thigh goes up and down 5,400 times an hour. Keep the thigh pockets for bars and gels, and your phone for the back, close to the pelvis, which barely moves. The inseam stops at mid-thigh (26.5 cm in M) and the compression stays moderate: for the cold, you will need bib tights.

    7mesh, founded in Squamish by former Arc'teryx people, launched its Clean Finish construction with its first bib shorts, in 2015. At MAAKE, these are our bib shorts for going far: the Q36.5 ones are fast on the road, this one carries what you need to last the day.
