    Description

    The Hope XCR Pro E4 is a complete disc brake for one wheel: lever, hose and four-piston caliper, supplied bled. It is aimed at cross-country and trail, what Hope calls downcountry.

    Its design chases grams without giving up the four pistons: carbon lever blade, titanium hardware, caliper machined from a single block of 2014 T6 aluminium. Hope claims 236 g without fluid for the whole brake.

    It runs on DOT 4 or 5.1 only. A trap in the name: DOT 5 is a silicone fluid that doesn't mix with DOT 4 and 5.1, and Hope rules it out just like mineral oil. The caliper is Post Mount, with 74.2 mm spacing; the rotor, such as the Floating Center Lock, is ordered separately.

    Hope designed it to accept all the current shifter mounts made for its Tech 3 brakes. MAAKE offers it to riders who want four pistons without weighing down their handlebar.
