    On a hookless rim, Hutchinson recommends taking 0.25 bar off its recommended pressure and never exceeding the lower of the two maximum pressures, the tyre's and the rim's.

    Description

    The Touareg Race Gridskin is a gravel race tyre for dry, hardpacked tracks scattered with sharp stones: the Touareg tread, GridSkin sidewalls.

    On hard ground, tall knobs that sink in are no use: you need lots of small contact points. Hence these low, tightly packed blocks, wider on the shoulder for cornering, that deform very little. The Mach Tread 3.0 compound adds its rebound: up to 25% more energy return than ElevenStorm, according to Hutchinson.

    At 70 kg on a 45 mm tubeless setup, Hutchinson recommends 2.25 bar, 2.75 bar on smooth terrain, 0.25 less on a hookless rim, and never more than the maximum on the sidewall. In mud, its small blocks have nothing to bite with: the brand rates it for dry, hard ground.

    Hutchinson makes it in France, with randomly speckled sidewalls: no two tyres have the same pattern. We offer it for fast races where stones slash sidewalls open.
