    Key features

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, Check Blue, avec la pédale SRM X-Power Direct

The fourth insert takes the cleat of the SRM X-Power Direct pedal, bolted at two points in line with the foot. According to Q36.5, the foot sits 6 mm closer to the pedal axle than with a Shimano system: lower your saddle by the same amount.

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, semelle carbone de profil

The 2.2 mm carbon sole, laid up by hand in Montebelluna, gives 4.4 mm of total stack. Less height means less leverage for the foot to rock when you push hard.

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, semelle carbone et ses quatre inserts

The drilling keeps the three holes of the road standard: your Shimano or Look cleats fit as on any race shoe. The fourth is only used with the SRM pedal.

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, Check White, avant du pied

The extra-wide metatarsal area lets the toes lie flat. The tongue gives way to a mesh panel over the instep: no fold pressing down, and a large ventilation area.

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, Check Blue, molettes BOA Li2

The BOA Fit System closure with two Li2 Dial D dials adjusts the upper click by click, with a wraparound heel that keeps the foot in place as the power goes up.

Chaussures vélo de route Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0, semelle intérieure Solestar

Fitted as standard, they set the foot in a neutral position: the arch stays supported when you push hard.

    Description

The Q36.5 Unique Pro 4.0 is the brand's race shoe, for sprints, criteriums and out-of-the-saddle accelerations. It takes the Unique Pro and adds a fourth insert under the sole, the one the cleat of the SRM X-Power Direct pedal needs.

It all comes down to height. The carbon sole is only 2.2 mm thick for 4.4 mm of total stack: the closer the foot is to the axle, the less leverage it has to rock with each push. With the X-Power Direct, bolted at two points in line with the foot, the gap between sole and axle drops by another 6 mm compared with a Shimano system, according to Q36.5.

A fitter's tip: when you switch from a Shimano or Look pedal to the SRM, lower your saddle by 6 mm, as Q36.5 recommends. Otherwise the leg extends further at the bottom of the stroke and the pelvis rocks to compensate. Without an SRM pedal, the fourth insert stays empty: the shoe fits like a three-hole one.

Q36.5 has it made in Italy, with the sole shaped by hand in Montebelluna. MAAKE offers it to riders on the SRM X-Power Direct, and to those who keep their three-hole pedals without closing the door.
