Q36.5
Q36.5 carries a number rather than a name: 36.5 °C, the temperature at which a cyclist's body works best. Clothing and shoes made in Italy to keep it there.
Q36.5 carries a number rather than a name: 36.5 °C, the temperature at which a cyclist's body works best. Clothing and shoes made in Italy to keep it there.
The whole brand fits in that number: keeping the body at its working temperature, whether it is hot or cold. That is why Q36.5 rates its pieces by temperature range rather than by season: the Gregarius Pro bib shorts from 18 °C, the Dottore Hybrid bib tights from 5 to 15 °C. The brand was born in Bolzano, at the foot of the Dolomites, as a research lab rather than a clothing brand, and its founder, Luigi Bergamo, still leads its research and development.
The in-house team developed its own lumbar support, progressive compression and a moulded chamois; its UNIQUE bib short, cut from a single woven piece, won a Red Dot Design Award. The fabrics are developed with Italian weavers and reserved for the brand. The products are handmade in Italy, within 350 km of Bolzano, with up to 100% recycled fabrics.
Muscle turns only about a quarter of its energy into movement: at 250 W on the pedals, the body produces some 750 W of heat, which clothing has to hold in or let out. Q36.5 measures it in a climate chamber, with a European research institute and an in-house sensor system that maps the body's heat and sweat. Then comes the peloton: the brand dresses the Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, led in 2026 by Tom Pidcock.
Because it treats heat as a measured performance variable, not just a matter of comfort. Its shoes, launched in 2021, are the logical next step: the Unique Pro 4.0 sits on a carbon sole developed with a Montebelluna workshop, and takes the SRM X-Power Direct pedal, conceived by Luigi Bergamo with Ulrich Schoberer. At MAAKE, the selection runs from bib shorts to winter gloves.
In Italy, by hand, within 350 km of the Bolzano headquarters. The only exception at MAAKE is the Pluie Hiver gloves, developed with a Taiwanese factory that specialises in their membrane knit.
Q36.5 guarantees its products to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship for their entire lifetime, until the brand deems them beyond repair; crash damage is excluded. The 2-year legal guarantee also applies, and MAAKE follows up the claim with the brand.
By temperature rather than by season: each piece is designed for a range, for example the Gregarius Pro bib shorts from 18 °C or the Dottore Termico bib tights from -5 to 5 °C. For sizing, try it on in the riding position on the bike, not standing.
